A Carrot, An Egg, and A Cup of Coffee
Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil; without saying a word.
In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter, she asked, "Tell me what you see."
"Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied.
Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard boiled egg. Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked, "What does it mean, mother?"
Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity: boiling water. Each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened. The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.
"Which are you?" she asked her daughter. "When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?"
Think of this: Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?
Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and hardened heart?
Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you.
When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest do you elevate yourself to another level? How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

It has been said that standard education will get you jobs, and self-education will make you fortunes. This is no doubt true, and I believe that reading is a key skill necessary to self-education. Statistics say the average CEO in America reads 4-5 books per month while the average American reads 1 book per year! This same statistic goes on to say that 60% of those average Americans don't even get past the first chapter in that one book! You may shrug your shoulders and say – okay big deal – so what? I am not comfortable reading, I gave up reading after school, I am not a reader and why should that bother me?
Whether it should bother you or not is for you to decide - remember breaking through means expanding your comfort zone. I simply share the facts with you. So here is another interesting fact: The average CEO of a Fortune 500 company will earn an average of 536 times the salary of the average employee of the company he runs. This means that the employee of that company will work for a year and a half to equal the salary of the CEO for one day! What an extremely amazing and true statistic! Now, I am not going to suggest to you that the only difference between the CEO and the average employee is that the CEO reads a lot of books and the employee doesn't; however, I will suggest to you that is one of the major differences.
Now, if it is true that knowledge and even reading has a correlation to income, and I believe that it does, then wouldn't it be logical to conclude that it is in our benefit and interest to read?
The human mind is the greatest computer ever created. Nothing in the world will ever compare to it. It is a truly phenomenal machine that, when fed, will respond with results that will astound you. Benjamin Franklin told us that if we take the pennies from our pockets and put them in our heads, our heads will then fill up our pockets once again. This is so true. The person who invests time educating himself will reap a lifetime of extra knowledge, fun and income.
So let's do what Franklin suggested and spend our pennies on books. As we read these books gain more and more knowledge, we'll look back in amazement as our knowledge and quality of life increases. My hope is that it will spark a fire in you to learn even more, and in doing so, develop and use more of your potential. Do this by continually learning and feeding the flames with information, knowledge and action.

THE SEED
He said, "It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO. I have decided to choose one of you."
The young executives were shocked, but the boss continued. "I am going to give each of you a SEED today - one very special SEED. I want you to plant the seed, water it, and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from the seed I have given you. I will the judge the plants that you bring, and the one I choose will be the next CEO."
One man, named Jim, was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. He went home and excitedly, told his wife the story. She helped him get a pot, soil and compost and he planted the seed. Everyday he would water it and watch to see if it had grown. After about three weeks, some of the other executives began to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow.
Jim kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew..
Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by, still nothing.
By now, the others were talking about their plants, but Jim didn't have a plant and he felt like a failure.
Six months went by -- still nothing in Jim's pot. He just knew he had killed his seed. Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but he had nothing. Jim didn't say anything to his colleagues, however. He just kept watering and fertilizing the soil - He so wanted the seed to grow.
A year finally went by and all the young executives of the company brought their plants to the CEO for inspection.
Jim told his wife that he wasn't going to take an empty pot. But she asked him to be honest about what happened. Jim felt sick to his stomach, it was going to be the most embarrassing moment of his life, but he knew his wife was right. He took his empty pot to the board room. When Jim arrived, he was amazed at the variety of plants grown by the other executives. They were beautiful -- in all shapes and sizes. Jim put his empty pot on the floor and many of his colleagues laughed, a few felt sorry for him!
When the CEO arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted his young executives.
Jim just tried to hide in the back. "My, what great plants, tree, and flowers you have grown," said the CEO. "Today, one of you will be appointed the next CEO!"
All of a sudden, the CEO spotted Jim at the back of the room with his empty pot. He ordered the Financial Director to bring him to the front. Jim was terrified. He thought, "the CEO knows I'm a failure! Maybe he will have me fired!"
When Jim got to the front, the CEO asked him what had happened to his seed - Jim told him the story.
The CEO asked everyone to sit down except Jim. He looked at Jim, and then announced to the young executives, "Behold, your next Chef Executive Officer! His name is Jim!"
Jim couldn't believe it. Jim couldn't even grow his seed.
"How could he be the new CEO?" the others asked.
Then the CEO said, "One year ago today, I gave everyone in this room a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today. But I gave you all boiled seeds; they were dead - it was not possible for then to grow. All of you, except Jim, have brought me trees and plants and flowers. When you found that the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Jim was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it. Therefore, he is the one who will be the new Chef Executive Officer!"
IF YOU PLANT HONESTY, YOU WILL REAP TRUST!
IF YOU PLANT GOODNESS, YOU WILL REAP FRIENDS!
IF YOU PLANT HUMILITY, YOU WILL REAP GREATNESS!
IF YOU PLANT PERSEVERANCE, YOU WILL REAP CONTENTMENT!
IF YOU PLANT CONSIDERATION, YOU WILL REAP PERSPECTIVE!
IF YOU PLANT HARD WORK, YOU WILL REAP SUCCESS!
IF YOU PLANT FORGIVENESS, YOU WILL REAP RECONCILIATION!
IF YOU PLANT FAITH, YOU WILL REAP A HARVEST!
SO, BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU PLANT NOW, IT WILL DETERMINE WHAT YOU WILL REAP LATER...

THE LIST
of the other students in the room on two sheets of paper,
leaving a space between each name.
Then she told them to think of the nicest thing they
could say about each of their classmates and write it
down.
It took the remainder of the class period to finish
their assignment, and as the students left the room,
each one handed in the papers.
That Saturday, the teacher wrote down the name of each
student on a separate sheet of paper, and listed what
everyone else had said about that individual.
On Monday she gave each student his or her list. Before
long, the entire class was smiling. 'Really?' she heard whispered.
'I never knew that I meant anything to anyone!' and,
'I didn't know others liked me so much,' were most
of the comments.
No one ever mentioned those papers in class again. She
never knew if they discussed them after class or with
their parents, but it didn't matter.
The exercise had accomplished its purpose.
The students were happy with themselves and one another.
That group of students moved on.
Several years later, one of the students was killed in
Vietnam and his teacher attended the funeral of that
special student. She had never seen a serviceman in a
military coffin before.
He looked so handsome, so mature.
The church was packed with his friends. One by one
those who loved him took a last walk by the coffin.
The teacher was the last one to bless the coffin
As she stood there, one of the soldiers who acted as
pallbearer came up to her. 'Were you Mark's math
teacher?' he asked. She nodded: 'yes.' Then he said:
'Mark talked about you a lot.'
After the funeral, most of Mark's former classmates
went together to a luncheon..... Mark's mother and
father were there, obviously waiting to speak with
his teacher.
'We want to show you something,' his father said,
taking a wallet out of his pocket 'They found this
on Mark when he was killed. We thought you might
recognize it.'
Opening the billfold, he carefully removed two worn
pieces of notebook paper that had obviously been taped,
folded and refolded many times....... The teacher knew
without looking that the papers were the ones on which
she had listed all the good things each of Mark's class
mates had said about him.
'Thank you so much for doing that,' Mark's mother said.
'As you can see, Mark treasured it.'
All of Mark's former classmates started to gather around.
Charlie smiled rather sheepishly and said, 'I still have
my list. It's in the top drawer of my desk at home.'
Chuck's wife said, 'Chuck asked me to put his in our
wedding album..'
'I have mine too,' Marilyn said. 'It's in my diary'
Then Vicki, another classmate, reached into her pocket
book, took out her wallet and showed her worn and
frazzled list to the group. 'I carry this with me at
all times,' Vicki said and without batting an eyelash,
she continued: 'I think we all saved our lists'
That's when the teacher finally sat down and cried.
She cried for Mark and for all his friends who would
never see him again.
The density of people in society is so thick that we
forget that life will end one day. And we don't know
when that one day will be.
So please, tell the people you love and care for, that
they are special and important... Tell them, before it
is too late.

I CHOOSE GOOD!
It can be used for GOOD or BAD.
I have control of my own mind! I Choose Good!
"Recall what has been said about the subconscious mind resembling a fertile garden spot, in which WEEDS will grow in abundance, if the SEEDS of more desirable crops are not sown therein. AUTOSUGGESTION is the agency of control through which an individual may voluntarily FEED his subconscious mind on thoughts of a creative nature, or, by neglect, permit thoughts of a destructive nature to find their way into this rich garden of the mind." (Hill)
I have recently seen the the seed of bitterness grow into hatred, and am seeing the destruction that it is causing in our extended family. I refused to listen to the negativity, so I cut a conversation short. I realize that the people speaking, though loved deeply by Mom and Dad, have said the lies long enough to believe that the opposite is true.
Since I believe that the matter should be left in God's hands and my meddling will not help improve the situation, I will rest in peace. Even though my heart aches, I have faith that God will take care of the matter, because He Says So...
When the children return to communication with us, we will be waiting with open ears to listen and receive them back into fellowship.
The point is: WHATEVER SEED YOU ALLOW TO GROW IN THE FERTILE GARDEN OF YOUR MIND, that is the seed that will produce either GOOD or BAD.
I CHOOSE GOOD!
"Somewhere in your makeup (perhaps in the cells of your brain) there lies, sleeping,THE SEED of ACHIEVEMENT which, if aroused and put into ACTION, would carry you to heights such as you may never have hoped to attain." (Hill)
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, THINK ON THESE THINGS." Philippians 4:8
"Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice. And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." Ephesians 4:31-32
Thank you for being KIND and forgiving. Your unconditional love shows us how to have unconditional love for others. (A proven duplicatable love)

Throw Out Worrying
I thought it was appropriate as I have been learning how to
concentrate on positive emotions not negative ones.
1. Desire
2. Faith
3. Love
4. Sex
5, Enthusiasm
6. Romance
7. Hope
8. Prosperity
Last Week I threw out Worrying, it was getting old and in the way.
I threw out those Inhibitions; they were just crowding me out.
Made room for my New Growth, got rid of my old dreams and doubts.
I threw out a book on MY PAST(didn't have time to read it anyway).
Replaced it with New Goals, started reading it today.
I threw out hate and bad memories, (remember how I treasured them so)?
Got me a NEW PHILOSOPHY too, threw out the one from long ago.
Brought in some new books too, called I CAN, I WILL, AND I MUST.
Threw out I might, I think and I ought, WOW, You should've see the dust.
I ran across an OLD FRIEND, haven't seen him in a while.
HIS NAME IS JESUS, Yes, I really like His Style.
He helped me to do some cleaning, and added some things Himself.
Like PRAYER, HOPE, AND FAITH, Yes, I placed them right on the shelf.
I picked up the special thing and placed it at the front door.
I FOUND IT – it's called PEACE. Nothing gets me down anymore.
Yes, I've got my house looking nice. Looks good around the place.
For things like Worry and Trouble, there just isn't any place.
It's good to do a little house cleaning, get rid of the old things on the shelf.
It sure makes things brighter;
maybe you should TRY IT YOURSELF.
BE BLESSED AND BE A BLESSING TO SOMEONE ELSE!!!!
The eight negative emotions to avoid are: 1. Fear
3. Hatred
4. Revenge
5. greed
6. Superstition
7. Anger
8. Lack
Concentrate on the positive emotions and you will

The sixth sense defies description!
It has also been referred to as the 'receiving set' through which ideas, plans, and thoughts flash into the mind. The 'flashes' are sometimes called 'hunches' or 'inspirations.' "
"The sixth sense defies description! It cannot be described to a person who has not mastered the other principles of this philosophy, because such a person has no knowledge, and no experience with which the sixth sense may be compared. Understanding of the sixth sense comes only by meditation through mind development from within. The sixth sense probably is the medium of contact between the finite mind of man and Infinite Intelligence, and for this reason, it is a mixture of both the mental and the spiritual. It is believed to be the point at which the mind of man contacts the Universal Mind."
I feel compelled at this point to share a Miracle that has happened to someone I know. Miracle = Something only God can do
Several weeks ago, a former assistant pastor of our church, was diagnosed with leukemia. He had been very sick and the white blood count was very high. Thousands of people lifted his name up in prayer to the God of the universe. He also had a unwavering faith in God and witnessed of his belief to all around him. He said, "God is painting a picture, I just can't see it yet."
Of course, the doctors prescribed chemo therapy, which made him even sicker! He spent a miserable two-three weeks in the hospital.
Yesterday, the doctors checked his blood again, and did not find any trace of leukemia (or high white blood count), so they said he could go home today. God has created our bodies with the awesome ability to heal itself if given proper nutrition. Above that, despite what the doctors do or prescribe, God is still the Great Physician.
The doctors can't explain it. I believe God healed him. God does hear and answer prayers. This is part of my FAITH.

Motivated by Love
I want to share with you some of the driving emotions of our older son and daughter- in-law.
Our son, Jon, joined the Florida Air National Guard, seven years ago at the Air Force Base in Jacksonville, FL. He actively fulfilled his monthly weekend duty and two-week summer tour of duty for several years. About a year before he joined the guard (FANG), he met his future wife.
Jon attended Bob Jones University for one year before he found his niche in architecture. While Jon was attending BJU, Melody visited the campus for high school music competition. She was a senior in high school and was very talented in music, specifically voice.
When their paths crossed and they began to talk to each other, they realized that they had a lot in common. They both had conservative standards and both had a strong desire to serve God with their life.
Melody went on to Pensacola, FL, for college, and Jon pursued his career in architecture in Jacksonville, FL. They emailed a few times, then Jon called Melody. The relationship, though long distant, began.
Melody went four years to college while Jon worked at an engineering firm and the national guard. He also was on a tour of duty in Iraq for 4 months in 2004.
During the course of their relationship, they seldom saw each other, but communicated through the internet and eventually Jon bought two cell phones on a phone plan,so that they could talk daily.
During Melody's senior year at college, during Christmas break, Jon proposed, and "She said, YES!"
After Melody graduated from college, she moved to Jacksonville to teach second grade in a Christian school. Jacksonville, FL, is a BIG city! (The city of Jacksonville takes up the whole county of Duval.) Melody lived at the south end in Orange Park, while Jon lived near the airport at the north end. Even though they were in the same city, they still had a long-distant relationship in miles. However, they knew how to communicate!
They were married June 24, 2006, in Maryland.
Jon moved into Melody's apartment and transferred his military status to a base on the south side of Jacksonville, too. Shortly after they got married, Jon and Melody announced that Jon would be going into Para-Rescue training!
Para-rescue training is very tough! It is the Air Force Special Operations, comparable to the Navy Seals. It certainly isn't marriage friendly! Melody's dad was in the Coast Guard. So she had grown up with the military. Still we are talking about two years of training away from family and loved ones.
Jon started this special training in October, 2007, and will complete the course in September, 2009.
I can't describe the driving desire that fuels his motivation, but Jon has always put 110% into everything he desires to do. Through the long periods of time he is separated from his wife, his deep desire to achieve and complete the task at hand has been accompanied with the love for his wife and family, and his deep commitment to protect & serve his others.
I am biased because this is about my son and daughter-in-law, but these men & women must be commended for their desire and commitment to protect our rights & freedom!
Most of them are motivated BY the LOVE of someone back home.
I am Proud of our military!

Picture Exactly What You Want - All the Detail
To achieve what you want in life, you must know exactly what it is, be able to 100% define it, picture every detail of it. People often don’t do this very well.
But here’s the thing: if you can’t picture every detail, then you don’t really know what you want. And if you don’t really know what you want, how can you make it happen?
A big problem for a lot of people is that what they want is a moving target. That will never work. You have to make a decision, before you can go for it. That’s the only way you can create a strong vision.
Writing down a description is the place to start. Make a list of all the things that would make you happy. Everything. Don’t play devil’s advocate - write it all down in 5 minutes. Then prioritize - choose the top 3. The prioritize again - choose #1.
Now describe #1 completely. Picture achieving that goal. In fact, picture it again and again and again and again. As you run through that movie a few hundred times, make a list of everything you see. Every smallest detail. If a question comes up, run the movie by again. Write down the elements that become more clear.
The idea is to be able to run a perfect version of that movie in your head, time after time after time. And watch closely, because over time, other smaller elements will become clear. Add them to your list.
Start working for this goal after you’ve watched the movie a few times, long before you have every detail totally clear. The harder you work at it, the harder it will be for you to give up.
That is the way you set out to get what you want in life.

I Will BELIEVE Without Fear or Doubt!
When I was a child, I took swimming lessons at a local river with other children my age..
Every year there was a two week course given by a local lifeguard.
My mother is deathly afraid of water, but she did not want her children to have the same fear.
I was not afraid of getting wet or being cold, but I did not trust the water to hold me up.
I was a sinker, not a swimmer.
One time as a very young child, my grandfather sneezed very loudly and scared me so that I fell into the water from off the dock.
My mother waited for me to come up and float, but I sank to the bottom and stayed there.
When she jumped in the water and pulled me out, I was as stiff as a board. (She told me later.)
At swimming lessons, I fought the water and was very fearful all of the first week.
During the second week, I was still very fearful. It was almost the last day when I finally DECIDED to trust the water.
Guess What!
I sunk a little, but then I floated! I actually started to enjoy the water.
I was sorry that I had not trusted the water sooner, since it was kind of fun floating on the water!
I WILL believe without fear or doubt!
I will be PERSISTENT!

Imagine That!
When my husband, Dennis, and I first joined the company that we now call 'HOME', we found out that we could retail the products anywhere you found a buyer. There were no limitations to our imagination. This set our minds to thinking... a store? Maybe go in with someone else?
Dennis suggested the Flea Market or Jockey Lot as it is sometimes called. A place where anyone can rent a space to sell just about anything, and people from the surrounding area come on weekends to buy and sell. Sarah said that sounded like a good idea because there should be lots of entrepreneurs there. I thought it was a good idea, too, so I juggled it around in my mind for months.
Things I would need:
1. Price lists
2. Printed product brochures
3. Product samples
4. Prospect contact information sheets
5. Props for display
The list could go on... but the IDEA was still in my head.
I wanted to promote the business, but feared the questions that I might not be able to answer.
I did not have a DEFINITE PLAN - nothing was written down!
On Friday, March 20th, I mentioned to Dennis that we NEEDED to stop by the Jockey Lot on Saturday, to see what arrangements could be made to rent a space and promote the business.
Saturday, we went, checked out a couple spots and got a map of the grounds with a phone number to call to reserve a spot. For some reason, we did not reserve a spot for the next Saturday. We could call Friday afternoon or Saturday morning, but it just didn't feel like the right time.
Well, does March 28th, ring a bell for anyone?
Our amazing company came up with an EXCELLENT IDEA! A RETAIL WEBSITE!
NOW I HAD ALL THAT I NEEDED. Not a lot of papers, but A WEBSITE that I could POINT PEOPLE TO so that they could get ALL THE INFORMATION and BUY THE PRODUCTS!
So, Saturday, April 4th, I took a box full of empty containers (we had used all those products ourselves), 25 company magazines, five paperback books "Success in 10 Steps", a simple black plastic tablecloth, two small boxes and white pieces of cloth (to cover the small boxes and set up a display of containers), a simple contact information sheet for people to fill out, and business cards that I wrote the Retail Website on the back of. (We even wore our Team t-shirts!)
I had a great time and all I did was greet people. If they stopped to talk or had questions, I gave them the website and told them that all the information was there for them. I got 8 good leads this week. I'll let you know about next Saturday...
Have a Great week!

A Great Coach is Very Clear on Their Own "Why"
- Offer prospects a tested, proven lead generation & training system
- Develop your own ability to coach your recruits to success in your system
The most important element of being able to coach your recruits to success is … you. You must understand your WHY and focus on it daily. You’ve got to know exactly what motivates you, or you’ll never be able to help your prospects figure out what motivates them. And if they can’t state their WHY, then they’ll drift away sooner or later. They can’t maintain their commitment if they can’t see exactly why they’re doing the daily work.
Re-read the first chapter of Success In 10 Steps if you’re at all hazy about your WHY. You’ll get at least 20 questions in that chapter to help you pinpoint your motivations.
Plus … it’ll be a big help to you in coaching others on how to state their WHY and then work toward achieving their goals. That is all a great coach does.

How To Blow up a Monkey Wrench
Some people get very good at creating that perfect, detailed picture of exactly what they want … and yet, they never achieve it.
Why?
Obviously, there’s a monkey wrench in the works somewhere. Someplace inside, there is a conflict that won’t let them achieve their perfectly planned & defined dream.
It’s OK. It’s all part of the process you have to go through to get what you want. In this case, you’ve got to find the limiting beliefs or ideas that are gumming up the works and keeping you from reaching the success you deserve.
So long as you are aware that there is a problem someplace in your thinking process, it will soon become apparent to you. You’ll be working, working, working … and then BLAM! Something flashes through your head and tells you to slow down or stop.
What is it. What exactly is that conflict? What exactly does it say to you?
So if you’ve created that perfect moving picture of the dream you want to achieve, and you still are having problems, you’ve got to know there is a conflict inside you, and you must be alert and spot it when it comes out from hiding.
Be ready for it. Get a good, good look at it. Watch how it sabotages you, keeps you from achieving your dreams.
Once you have seen this bit of doubt or fear or confusion totally, it loses its power over you. If it ever tries to get a foothold again, you’ll recognize it immediately … and you’ll be able to continue pursuing your dream as if there was no resistance whatsoever.
Try it … it works just like that!
Your friends forever,
Michael & Linda Dlouhy

Leaders Create Results- The 5 Levels Of Leadership
Think about it, you are in a leadership business! Everything rises and falls on leadership, doesn't it? At least that is what my mentor taught me. True leadership is when we can sit back in complete satisfaction and look at how many people we have helped. Leadership is making a difference in the lives of those individuals who have been placed in our path for a divine purpose. Leaders create results and I believe that we (like-minded people) are all striving to become leadership developing factories, right? Think about it, everything is based off of leadership, every area of our life. I am moving my way up the 5 levels of leadership and I want to take you with me on this journey. It feels so good when you can be a part of pushing someone up, after all our business is PEOPLE! Michael Dlouhy says it best, he says to "study people!"

I Have a Good Story. Takes About Two-Minutes. Might Make You a Lot of Money...
If you never had to go to work again, would that be okay? (As long as you still got a paycheck.)
I felt the same way. My job interferes with my life. Last summer my husband and I couldn't get the same week off, so we ended up taking separate vacations. I spend hours commuting to work every week. So I decided to start some sort of home based business so I wouldn't have to spend all of my time at the job until age 65.
I got figuring... I only need about $20,000 a year to replace my take-home pay, so I went looking for a business.
You know how a lot of people are always dieting, drinking energy drinks like Red Bull, and a lot of people take vitamins and are interested in natural health?
Well, there is a 5-pillars company that has cool versions of these products that people really like. They have some cookies that dieters love to eat to manage their weight, an energy drink about 1/3 the price of Red Bull, but gives you a better buzz, and lots of vitamins and healthy things people buy from them all the time.
To earn $20,000 a year in this 5-pillars company, I would need approximately 150 people using the products, and then I would never have to go to work again.
Now, I don't know how to get 150 users of the products now, but I can learn. Hey, I learned to drive a car, learned to be a parent, learned how to do an email, and I can certainly learn a SYSTEM to get 150 people using the 5-pillars company products.
So, I started thinking, "What's going to be easier?"
"Going to work every weekday for the rest of my life, fighting traffic, warehousing the kids in day care, and begging for the time off for vacations?"
"OR Learning a SYSTEM to get 150 people using a 5 pillar company products?"

Nero Fiddled. Rome Burned. What Did You Do Today?
Did you know that everything you do influences everything else you do?
We are definitely creatures of habit. Example: if your habit is to turn on the TV every night when you get home from work, then what does THAT influence? Just to start, you might safely say:
- the communication between you and others in your family
- your mental activity and alertness
- your outlook on life
- the time you have available for personal growth
- your ability to advance in your chosen career
Again, everything you do influences everything else you do. So you have the choice of lots of actions that can have long-term effects, either positive or negative.
Any habit can help you get farther ahead every day … or it can push you farther down. That’s why it’s so important to make choices that help you achieve your dreams.
It’s the old “slight edge” theory. Because the clock of your life is always running, the slight edge is always working 100% of the time. If you don’t strategize to make it work in your favor, then it will definitely work against you. The old saying goes, “Nero fiddled while Rome burned.” Definitely a guy who didn’t understand the slight edge.
Aren’t you glad you’re not Nero?

Don't Be Afraid to ASK for Help!
I am a mixture of color personalities that doesn't like to 'bother' others and thought they didn't have the time to help me. (I didn't have a lot of self esteem, either.) I have come a long way, but I will always be looking for more improvement, knowledge, and understanding.
I am working on self development. I have been reading books such as The Slight Edge, by Jeff Olson, Think & Grow Rich, by Napoleon Hill, and several others. I am learning a lot about myself that will help me to be a leader and a better friend that you might want to be around. I am not a 'spring chicken' anymore, so these things are important to me and those I love. Napoleon hill says most people come into their best years when they are in their 50's & 60's. I guess there is still hope for most of us!
If you are trying to make a GO of any business and are having problems getting leads or support, or just a decent additional income check, please contact me or download this F*ree ebook to get started in the right direction:

Network Marketing Success--YOUR distributorship can become BIG BUSINESS
Just like in a brick and mortar business, you need a good plan for network marketing success. The failure rate for all types of business is astronomical. It’s certainly no different for a Network Marketing business. Distributorships are very inexpensive, so virtually anyone can start their own business. Because it costs almost nothing to start a Network Marketing business it’s often thought of as “not a real business”. Nothing could be further from the truth. You can be rest assured, Professional Network Marketers know how big the ROI can be. Make no mistake, YOUR distributorship can become BIG BUSINESS.
And yet, so many people these days are spouting the “multiple streams of income” nonsense in MLM. You can look long and hard and still never find anyone who is successful in 2 MLM businesses at the same time. No kidding, it’s tough to find a person who has actually built full-time income in ONE business. So what would make people think they could build FIVE business at a time, as some of them say they do? Without a doubt: they’re full of it.
Some people think that by promoting 5 businesses to you, maybe you’ll get excited by one and join. That doesn’t work for most people and then they are gone. What works is to pick the best company you can find and build that business. Multiple streams of MLM income is BS, don’t let some knucklehead fool you.
To achieve your goals, you’ve got to start with a big network of people who like you and trust you, or you must build that network. It would be a feather in your hat to understand marketing, because you will need to continually build your network.
One reason people choose to build an MLM business - they want to escape from a job working with people they just don’t feel comfortable with. Unfortunately, some people get desperate when they’re building their network marketing group, and they sign up anyone with a plus. Don’t do that. Really, the sign-up bonus just isn’t worth the trouble. One Rule of Thumb when you’re talking to somebody is to ask yourself, “Is this someone I’d want to be on a vacation with?”
This is your business, and you choose the people you will work closely with. Don’t choose someone you just don’t like. Instead, only go with people who you think would be a blast to be around, who share your dreams and goals. It’s very satisfying to find new close friends and then to support them as they go for their lifetime goals. It’s depressing to talk again and again to an unmotivated person and listen to them gripe about the business you love. I call them “The Walking Dead”. You really need to have your standards set high in your mind when you talk to candidates for you business. Hang a sign outside your office…No Zombies Allowed
That major reason for the popularity of network marketing is the idea that when you get a lot of people doing a few simple things, it can be very, very profitable for you. You’ll get insights to this idea and many others in Michael Dlouhy’s classic MLM ebook, “Success in 10 Steps.” It explains why people have been frustrated in MLM and how they turned it around using this book.
You also get a step-by-step long-term relationship-building plan to make you successful in Network Marketing. But even more than that, because the book doesn’t mention any company or product, it is a tool I highly recommend because lots of MLMers now use it to generate their own targeted Network Marketing leads.

A Boy Scout Comes Clean
Article written by Richard Dennis
I spent several years as a Boy Scout … about 50 years ago. Great memories. I loved the camaraderie, and I especially loved the camping trips, hikes, canoeing sunsets, campfires, jamborees … Wow!
At my first jamboree of many dozens of scout troops, my scoutmaster sent me to the other side of the camp to get a sky-hook from a troop over there. Unfortunately, when I got there, that scoutmaster had already lent his sky-hook to a troop way back over near where I’d come from. Oh, well. I got there, but it turned out THAT scoutmaster had also lent out the sky-hook … I think you’re beginning to get the picture.
After a couple hours I returned to camp, apologizing to my scoutmaster because I had no sky-hook. He was very forgiving, however, because they’d gotten along without it. What he really needed at the moment was some black whitewash. He heard that a troop way the heck over there had it, if I would just go get it … so off I went.
Those were definitely the good old days.
Anyway, recalling some of these memories, I looked up one of my all-time favorite written pieces. You’ve probably read it before, but I’ll share it here now, because it’s a good one to bring back into current vision from time to time.
Boy Scout Oath, Law, Motto, and Slogan
Scout Oath (or Promise)
On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.
Scout Law
TRUSTWORTHY
A Scout tells the truth. He keeps his promises. Honesty is part of his code of conduct. People can depend on him.
LOYAL
A Scout is true to his family, Scout leaders, friends, school, and nation.
HELPFUL
A Scout is concerned about other people. He does things willingly for others without pay or reward.
FRIENDLY
A Scout is a friend to all. He is a brother to other Scouts. He seeks to understand others. He respects those with ideas and customs other than his own.
COURTEOUS
A Scout is polite to everyone regardless of age or position. He knows good manners make it easier for people to get along together.
KIND
A Scout understands there is strength in being gentle. He treats others as he wants to be treated. He does not hurt or kill harmless things without reason.
OBEDIENT
A Scout follows the rules of his family, school, and troop. He obeys the laws of his community and country. If he thinks these rules and laws are unfair, he tries to have them changed in an orderly manner rather than disobey them.
CHEERFUL
A Scout looks for the bright side of things. He cheerfully does tasks that come his way. He tries to make others happy.
THRIFTY
A Scout works to pay his way and to help others. He saves for unforeseen needs. He protects and conserves natural resources. He carefully uses time and property.
BRAVE
A Scout can face danger even if he is afraid. He has the courage to stand for what he thinks is right even if others laugh at or threaten him.
CLEAN
A Scout keeps his body and mind fit and clean. He goes around with those who believe in living by these same ideals. He helps keep his home and community clean.
REVERENT
A Scout is reverent toward God. He is faithful in his religious duties. He respects the beliefs of others.
Scout Motto: Be Prepared
Scout Slogan: Do a Good Turn Daily
——————————
I agree with Richard Dennis when he says:
"In my estimation, one of the all-time great pieces of writing."
We would all do well to live by these laws.

Need Help For Home Business? - Ask Michael Dlouhy!
Why are there so many frustrated network marketers that fail in this industry while others are making six figures? Help for a home business is what many are looking for these days. The bad news is that there is so much bogus educational information out there - the good news is that there ARE people that have found solutions and have gone from frustrated to exhilarated within months.
Many are struggling to do exactly as their upline or sponsors are telling them to do, doing it faithfully day after day, month after month…. Still without seeing any significant results.
Oh, there may be a sale or two every so often, just enough to keep a little fire lit and for many, just the fact that they have invested thousands of dollars into advertising, etc, keeps them plugging faithfully on as their sponsors encourage them with this ” You are doing the right thing - you just need to do more of it…
Help for your home business is on the way if you are one of these frustrated network marketers.
Michael Dlouhy , a network marketer for the past thirty years found success early on in his network marketing career. However, after awhile he was finding that things had shifted and his team was no longer experiencing the success he had AND he was noticing that the failure rate in network marketing was very high…. Painfully high.
So he set out to see what he could find. After researching hundreds of network marketing companies, studying hundreds of compensation plans and marketing plans - he came to this conclusion.
It was rarely the fault of the people within the system , trying to build their business… in most cases it was either because of a faulty pay plan, lack of training, wrong fit for the person, wrong marketing methods used, outdated marketing methods…etc
Michael knew that it was totally possible for ANYONE to experience outlandish success with network marketing, so he set out to find a way that could benefit people in ANY network marketing opportunity.
He has developed a free mentoring and training course he openly shares and mentors others with and he calls it Success in 10 Steps. It has literally helped thousands of people find their way in this industry. Anyone looking for help for home business now has access to this coaching and mentoring and are creating lifestyles that others only dream of!

Color Your Way to MLM Success
What is the big deal about colors?
article written by Jennifer W.
When I mention colors, I am not talking about auras … I don’t go there. I’m talking about a box of crayons or markers. It’s related to art work, but not on actual canvas. It’s the beauty of people and how they have been created and how you, as network marketer, can best understand yourself and best understand the people you are mentoring in your business.
The colors I am referring to are Blue, Green, Yellow Blue … which personality color are you?
Over the years, I have participated in many a study on personality types, taken many a test to discover my own, and so forth. Some call them Sanguine, Choleric, Melancholy and Phlegmatic. I often felt confused as to what my personality type was because I had a variety of all of the characteristics.
What’s the point of personality types in building an MLM business? It’s a bigger deal than you might think and I hope this post will give you a good and clear insight into why. I will also point out that this ONE THING has made the most dramatic impact on how I help others in their efforts to earn income from home.
My first suggestion is that you let go of how you have learned the personality types in the past, and simplify the process with the facts I am about to share with you. It will simplify your learning curve and give you a slight edge you never dreamed of.
I learned that I had been made this way on purpose, and that I was OK just the way I am.
Everyone has unimaginable strengths as well as obvious weaknesses. I have been frustrated by my weaknesses for years, wondering why one person could do this or that so well … yet it was such a struggle for me. Even with all I knew about self esteem, the lack thereof, and so forth, I had real struggles in building my business the way my upline was asking me to. After the realization of my own color traits, I realized that there would have been no way I could have done it that way … as I am a different color entirely. I was not a closer, did not want to be a closer, yet the people I had worked with previously were very skilled at closing.
Therefore, I learned a truth that has set me free …
My lack of success was not my fault!
I found an amazing mentor through my association with Mentoring for Free, a generic training and lead generation system, who knew all about me and I did not even have to tell her much. She understood me, and she continues to encourage me to work on my strengths, embrace them, and know that there are others within the system who will support and help me with my weaker areas.
Has anyone every told you that? i.e. that your lack of success was not your fault? No, on the contrary, we are told that only 3% of people will ever have success in MLM. That doesn’t seem too fair to me, not when I have just as much intelligence, desire and a BIG WHY to get me there as well. What I did not have, was all the facts as to what most successful people in MLM have …
They understand people and how to develop and maintain supportive relationships with people. I am not referring to your email list here … but actual phone conversations and homework, self development, and mentoring.
So … what is your color?
I must refer you the Success in 10 Steps and the Mentoring for Free system for all the answers, but below is a brief synopsis of what I have learned and put into use in understanding myself as well as others I am privileged to mentor.
GREEN: This is someone who is rather serious by nature, likes facts and information, will not be sold without their homework, and sometimes have been accused of suffering from analysis paralysis. The more information you can give a Green, the more comfortable they will feel in making a decision as to where they want to take their business. They will also give you great information and will likely know many of the answers to your questions, but may think they have to know it all before they can help someone. I also liken them unto a bulldog … in that they absolutely do not quit once their mind is made up. If the big win in MLM is what they are after, they will get there no matter what it takes, i.e. persistent men and women.
Greens make up 35% of the population.
YELLOW: This is someone who generally cares more about the needs of others than themselves … by nature. The rest of us seem to have to work on that. They are a laid back sort many times in the nursing or other related fields. A yellow is a good listener. A Yellow can be overly sensitive and may not tell you what they think in order keep from hurting your feelings. In MLM, a Yellow is most concerned about their team and it’s success.
Yellows make up 35% of the population.
BLUE: This is someone whose mind is usually going 90 miles an hour, a very personalbe sort who loves being anywhere there is action. Many successful sales people are Blues because of their love of people. They are also the creative sort, the artists, the actors, the public speakers and politicians. Their struggle seems to be staying focused on any one task. A Blue will have bought every book available on a desired topic, but likely not finished one of them. Easily distracted, but high energy and when in a creative mood, nothing can stop them. A Blue has many an inspiration idea of great brilliance, but it is the Greens that help them put it into motion. When it is not fun any longer, the Blue is tempted to move on to something else.
Blues make up 15% of the population.
RED: This is someone who is passionate about success, goal-oriented, and determined to go where they want to be. Money is important, in fact it can be all about the money. These are the CEO’s of large corporations. Decisive, direct. A Red can build big in MLM, but the relationship may be a struggle. You may have to pick up the pieces.
Reds make up 15% of the population.

YOUR MLM PROSPECT HAS AN EMPLOYEE MINDSET
I saw a comment from a successful internet marketer this week that I think is very important to consistently remind yourself of.
Almost everybody we talk to about network marketing is an employee. They come from an employee mindset. Very few are actually business owners.
The employee mindset is: “OK. I really want to be successful on my own. I don’t want to have a boss. I want to make more money. What do I do?”
The employee mindset is NOT: “OK. I’m going to work this out for myself and come up with my own business plan.”
And the point this guy was making is, the most important word when you are talking to a prospect is “system.”
Let me repeat that. Heck, let me SCREAM that.
THE MOST IMPORTANT WORD WHEN YOU ARE TALKING TO A PROSPECT IS:
SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM!
You’ve got to give them a step-by-step system. They have to see a system that can work for them. You have to show them how it has worked for others, and you have to show them, step-by-step, exactly what they will do with it.
But it’s more than just that. Your prospect not only has the opportunity to use a system that is tested and proven to work, but they also have the opportunity to talk to their prospects about that tested, proven system … which every prospect needs and wants. It’s really important. That is exactly what this guy is talking about.
You need to hammer prospects about the system. I mean, REALLY hammer them on this. Most prospects think, “Oh, this company has a great product. That’s what I need.” Or, “Oh, I’m personally sponsored by the heavy hitter. That’s what I need.” Or, “It’s been proven that this compensation plan pays out 80%, and over 90% of the people who use it are successful.”
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!
Most prospects need to use the Success In 10 Steps ebook by Michael Dlouhy to have success, but some won’t. Everybody knows that a new person needs a tested, proven system to start with. If you can find a better, tested proven system, fine. We’ve used this one for 4 years, and it constantly produces the targeted leads we want.
That’s what those with the “employee mindset” need more than anything … good prospects to talk to. Just getting a few really targeted prospects a week can change their lives.
System? Yes. Use it. And talk to your prospects about it. Believe me, they know they need it.
Richard Dennis

Is This The Right Opportunity For Me?
I remember when I joined my first MLM. It was in the early year of 2006. I was looking for a new source of income for my wife and our new baby boy. I desperately needed the money and I had very little time to work another job. You see I was in the active duty Air Force for six years making very little money. With a new child and a stay at home wife I was hurting for some extra cash. Depression was kicking my butt.I went from doing surveys online, to eBay (where I was scammed out of $1200) and pretty much anything else I could get my hands on (not drugs). I even submitted an invention of mine that I came up with over the years which still ended up costing me more money. That's still in the works.
As I was doing surveys I noticed an ad on one of the survey websites telling me that I could make a lot of money while putting in very little effort. Well needless to say this was right up my alley. Without hesitation I got the money together buy pawning some unused things of mine and scrounging for whatever change that I could find. I contacted the person on the ad and told them that I have the money and I am ready to join. Was I? I was so excited about making easy money that I jumped right into a company that I had no idea about and had not done any research on. I thought that I was going to be rich! Little did I know right?
When I started talking to my sponsor about the company and making money I was constantly being told to buy the products and watch the training videos, buy the products and watch the training videos. Any of this sounds familiar? So I buy the products and I watch the videos and I buy the products... You get the point. Anyway, after doing this for about a month I started to receive something that I did not expect to receive in the beginning; a BIG FAT HEADACHE! I did not make a dime off of this company. There was no duplicatable method to be used, there was no real communication between my sponsor and I, and most importantly of all there was no MONEY! I wanted to scream, there I was trying to do something honest for me and my family and not a dime. All I had was some nasty powder, some beans, lotions and crap and a big empty account. It was the worst feeling that I had ever had. I thought to myself "YOU IDIOT", you just spent all of your money on a company that does not even show you a proper way of selling your product and now you have to go tell your loving wife that this selling thing is not working. I thank God to this day that she did not leave me. Needless to say after my year end subscription I did not even think about renewing my account.
I did not try another MLM for about 2 1/2 years later. Now I am back in the MLM business getting customers and I have not even been in the company for a month. How does this happen? I did my research on the company first of all. I analyzed everything, from the comp plan, to who founded the company and who endorses it. Most importantly of all, I found a mentor. If you do not find a mentor then you can forget it. Just go give your money to the homeless or something; at least they can use it more than some of these "opportunity" companies. Also do your research. Don't do what I did years back and dive right in head first. I guarantee that you will get frustrated in your first few months if not the first and that you will, WILL go broke.
When I use to do carpentry work with my dad he would always tell me "measure twice and cut once". This saying easily applies to joining an MLM or any company. Research as much as you can on the company and be sure that the company is a good one then join. Many of these companies are set up to give us false hope and nothing more while there are legit companies out there that actually do what they say they will do. This is why researching the company before you join is so important. Here is some advice, be weary of companies that promote "make hundreds of thousands in one month" or "get 50,000 prospects in one month". If they say anything like this then ask that person to prove it. If they cannot then there you go. Other than that I have nothing more to say. I hope this little story and bit of information helps you in your next or current venture. I wish you the best of luck.
Your friend,
Alfonzo Gasaway II

How to Find a Legitimate MLM Opportunity
5 Pillars for success! A lot of people now days are working from Home, but many more are just jumping from one program to another. What is the reason that some people really make money online and why others don’t?
Every time you search in Google “How to make money online”, How to work from home”, “Home based business opportunity”, “MLM business”, you get millions of websites showing you the best opportunity they have, but the reality is that we are only getting too much hype and lies from the majority of these opportunities.
I don’t blame these people because I was one of them…
For the past 8 years I’ve joined many opportunities for the same reason of all of you, and that is to “make money online” and to have”financial freedom”
I did everything my sponsors told me to do: I made a list of my friends and families, I create flyers, I spend a lot of money in PPC advertising, I bought thousands of business cards, I went to parking lots to put my cards in the windshield of the cars, I did business parties in my house, I went to business meetings, i bought magnetic signs for my car, and the list goes on and on….
Now I know that my lack of success was not my fault…instead, it was lack of education. No body showed me how to analyze a company before spend my time and money on them.
Finally I found an ebook called “Success in 10 Steps” by Michael Dlouhy, and this ebook showed me the real truth about network marketing business. In this ebook Michael talks about the 5 pillars for success and I want to share it with you.
Before you spend your valuable time and hard earned money I want you to follow this simple step to success, and that is to find a Company that has these 5 pillars:
1. Company management experience with integrity. Now you will say how do I know when a company has experience with integrity?….well all you have to do is go to Google and do a research in the company’s name and the owner & president’s name. In this first pillar you also need to request the policies & procedures of the company. You will be surprise to know that the majority of these companies states in their policies: “At its sole discretion, XXX Company may terminate a distributor for any reason upon 30 days prior written notice”.That’s how you know if they have integrity. Do you think is fair to have policies like this?
2. Timing in the Industry. A lot of companies brag about their Huge ground floor opportunity, but the reality is that the majority of these so called opportunities don’t last 2 years, so focus only in companies that already past the 2-3 years mark, as a matter of fact a good opportunity will be more strong after 2 years any way.
3. Remarkable Product that people buy and consume in a regular basis. I can say that this pillar is easy to find because a lot of companies have good products. Be advice that when we talk about product we are talking about real, tangible, consumable products, not downloadable intangible products.
4. Compensation Plan that pays the part time members. This is one of the most important parts in the 5 pillars. You have to have a pay plan that pays the average guy and not only the heavy hitters. The way to figure this out is easy, just decide how much money do you want to earn in your new business, let’s say $10,000 per month in residual income….now ask the person who’s presenting you the opportunity that tells you how many people in your team do you need to earn this income? If they don’t know that’s proof that you know more than they do, they always going to say only 2, or 5 but they don’t tell you that those 2-5 are going to do the same, so at the end of the process you find out that you really need over 1000, 2500 or even 10,000 members to earn your desired income. I can tell you the best compensation plan is that one that pays the most money with the least people, so find a company that only requires 300-400 members in your Team to earn that money.
5. Duplicable system in place. The last pillar for success is that you need to have a duplicable system that the average member can do it….remember people are not duplicable, systems are!
